JK Rowling wasn’t messing around when she wrote Harry Potter. It turns out that most of the crazy sounding spell names actually make complete sense. Most of the names have latin origins and mean something similar to whatever it is that the spell is doing. So study up, and the next time you find yourself yelling out “Expecto Patronum!”, you can kind of explain what it really means.
