Algorithms and AI play an increasingly large (and intrusive) role in our lives. Everywhere we go online we’re followed by pesky tracking software that notes our habits and interests and uses that information to serve us targeted ads and pop-ups for sites and products it has deduced will interest us.
Luckily (or unluckily) these bots aren’t perfect and often get things hilariously wrong, juxtaposing something wonderfully inappropriate or deeply unfortunate next to something tied to the same keywords.
Sometimes this even happens in the real world when someone doesn’t look closely enough at their signage or consider that the context may give their sign an entirely different, and unwanted meaning. But mostly we can blame technology…mostly.
