Influencers are everywhere now. If you’re lucky, you will spot one in the wild. Well, if you’re unlucky, I guess. Seeing someone try to get the perfect selfie in a public space can make you cringe. Obviously, it’s nice to know that the perfect photo of some rich person’s perfect life takes one or two or twenty takes to get just right. We usually only see the final product, after it’s been photoshopped to death. Thankfully, the @influencersinthewild TikTok account catches famous Snapchatters and Instagram models out in the world so we can see how lonely their lives really are.
FOMO is something I suffer from. I follow other people with my name so I can see if there’s a better me living out there. If they’re famous models, forget it. My day is ruined. But, if I look at my real life, I realize I’m the privileged one. I’m sitting here writing about these dorks for money. So… Who’s the real winner here?
