My hometown of Cleveland, Ohio finally did the right thing. What thing, you ask? No, they didn’t fix hyper-segregation. But, they did finally change their Major League Baseball team’s name and logo.
Folks, please welcome the new-and-improved addition to the MLB: The Cleveland Guardians!
I think it looks cool and I love the name! Did they ask me? No. Did you ask me? Also, no.
Maybe you’re wondering “why Guardians?” Well, when you step out of Jacobs Field (now Progressive Field, but come on), the Carnegie Bridge is right in front of you. There, you will see enormous Art Deco statues known as the “Guardians of Traffic.”
What better way to honor America’s pastime than by honoring our second-favorite pastime: getting stuck in traffic?
