I was unaware of the term “skeuomorph” until I stumbled upon an informative Twitter thread.
The Cultural Tutor on Twitter defines the term and provides several examples, including the well-known “save” icon, a floppy disk, which is a classic instance of a skeuomorph – where a new object adopts the form of its predecessor.
